The beginning of a New Year is the perfect time to think about how we want to spend our days….our hours….our minutes.  We make resolutions.  We open new planners.  We  look forward to executing our plans and goals perfectly.

Oops, that ain’t gonna happen!!!  (Sorry, high school English teacher, Mrs. Traugott.)   It doesn’t matter that we have the best of intentions, we will never NEVER live perfect lives.  At least not here.

One beautiful, highly motivated, very spiritual woman who participated in the  Holy Woman Challenge was very distraught after engaging in the challenge.   She was very hard on herself after not being able to do several goals.  With pain in her voice she said, “I have failed.  I never thought I would, but I did.”

That is just heartbreaking.  I can still hear her distress as she agonized over her “failure”.  Sisters, you cannot fail if you are trying.  We learn and accomplish things when we begin them.  When we take that first step.  When we sort the first cluttered drawer, find that first ancestor, or refuse that first Cinnabon.

If you have accepted the Holy Woman Challenge, then Heavenly Father is right there with you.  When crossing the street I automatically take my grand daughters hand.   It comforts her knowing she is safe with me.  It comforts me knowing I can guide her safely to the other side.

Heavenly Father does that for us. Isaiah 41:13 tells us that God holds our hand and promises to be with us and help us.  Wow, I love that.

If you are asking yourself “What would a holy woman do?” then He is right there with you, guiding, supporting, loving.  One step at a time. Inch by inch.  You are going to walk across that street, not leap the entire city at once.  Only Super Girl can do that.  We cannot.  Not yet.

He will never forsake you in your quest to be holier.  He has asked us to be holier, to perfect holiness.   Why would he ask us that if He didn’t want us to pursue it?

I challenge you to continue finding ways to be holier, one minute at a time.  Choose to do the hard thing.  Choose to keep on when you are discouraged, distracted or distraught.  Go to Him in prayer and have a planning session.  Listen to His counsel.

Then, make this moment holy.  In this one moment, choose the right. Minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day you will become more and more and more holy.

Choose your minutes wisely and you are a holy woman.
