I have often asked myself what would make a mother kill her baby. What thought process could lead a mother to this horrendous act of destruction, this staggering performance of perfidy?

To begin with, she would have to be entrapped in darkness so black, so encompassing, so seemingly inescapable that no light can penetrate it. At least in my mind, she needs to think there is no other way to break out of her misery. Because if she is not captive to this blackness, and she decides to murder her baby, then my heart cannot go there…that would be a willful act of homicide I could not entertain. I have to believe that if any mother could decide to consciously destroy her child she would have to be in the darkest of nights.

To arrive at this decision that goes against the very nature of motherhood, one would have to have reached the height of self-deception.

Self-deception is a process of denying or rationalizing away the relevance, significance,    or importance of opposing evidence and logical argument. Self-deception involves      convincing oneself of a truth (or lack of truth) so that one does not reveal any self-     knowledge of the deception .”  Wikipedia

The malevolent darkness experienced by a mother contemplating murder is powered by self-deception. She has entered into a mode of ego defense so powerful that it disallows any maternal viewpoints to surface. She suffocates tenderness with callousness. Her innate parental affections are disarmed with narcissistic ropes that bind and blind her.

This self-deception comes to the fore when who we really are comes into direct opposition to who think we are. We think we are strong independent women, mistresses of our worlds. We bow to no one, especially men. We make our own decisions, clear our own path, and chart our own course. We smother the knowledge of being daughters of God.

The problem with this is two-fold. One, the further you go down this path, the more callous you become. This inevitable hardness is required of one facing the world alone. The real self is buried layer upon layer by life’s cruel requirements, deliberate malicious intent of our fellow man, and ignorance of God’s Love.

The real daughter-of-God self is scorned by those who adhere to worldly standards. She hears their falsehoods preached so loudly and incessantly in her mind that it drowns out her heart. Because in her heart she knows her baby nestles in her womb expecting to be protected by its mother. Expecting nourishment and love.

The relentless fictions are broadcasted to every corner of our society and so permeate our world that a mother’s real daughter-of-God self becomes blind to the simple truth of the unborn within her. She is fooled into thinking that her inalienable right to choose means she can choose to murder her baby.

Our babies were granted a reprieve upon the decision to cast aside the barbaric Roe v Wade. However, babies are not in the clear yet. In September President Biden vowed to “Codify” the cruel amendment thus bringing back the legality to butcher babies.

Sisters, let’s step up this November and exercise our right to stop the exterminators. Let’s shout it in our communities, in our churches, in our families. Let’s step out of our comfort zone and stop relying on others to “do something”. YOU can do something. You can vote to save the babies. You can vote to stop the slayers from tearing the innocent from their mothers wombs. You can save their blameless blood from being spilt on clinic floors.
VOTE.
