Catherine has done a beautiful job in bringing her brother, Charlie, out of a nightmare’s darkness into the light that only love can accomplish. She gives us the opportunity to know him as she does, to see and feel his great spirit, to look beyond the uncertainty, and grab hold of the essence that is Charlie.
Catherine says “relationships compel us to apply the craft of an artist” and she has taken that skill to the next level. With “her arms permanently open to catch whatever falls” Catherine shows us the pain of having a mentally challenged little brother, and the ambiguity one must feel in such a family dynamic. But, instead of leaving us in this heartbreaking situation, she leads us to heartwarming conclusions and shows us how her relationship with Charlie was one of the driving forces behind her own personal and professional development.
Thank you, Catherine, for your candid appraisal of your lifelong lessons learned.
